The response to Hurricane Florence has started and 34 dogs will be getting a second chance which in turn will open up 34 beds for animals clearing out tomorrow from South Carolina. Landpilots Dennis Bayne and David Turner returned late last night from Martinsville, VA where they helped make room so displaced animals affected by the storm can be found by their families. It’s the very same playbook that we used last year during Maria, Harvey, and Irma. The mission was a joint rescue with our friends at North Shore Animal League America who are making a huge effort to bring animals to their facility in Long Island.
Before a storm of this magnitude the pressure is on to create room in shelters near the worst hit parts of the region so people who lost everything can hold onto hope that they can be reunited with their pets. Right now people are scrambling to make room. We have been in contact with shelters and have been working to put together multiple land and air missions to respond to the needs as they arise. The situation is fluid and we have been working our contacts to identify and deploy our resources in the best possible way. If we don’t respond to requests right away please bear with us.
