6 Sea Turtles, plus more later in the day, are on their way to Florida for release into the ocean on board our Landplane piloted by No Dog Left Behind Landpilots Laura Fruehan and Chris Klacik!
Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium invited us along to provide the heavy lifting with our climate controlled Landplane. Early this morning we loaded up these six and hit the road with a few members of their team for Baltimore. Just after lunchtime we expect to meet up with the The Baltimore Aquarium to give these 6 a rest and hook them up with 20 plus Sea Turtles already in Baltimore. After spending the day all of the teams will then depart for Jacksonville, FL and participate in a beach release of these turtles. After a few months being rehabilitated these animals are ready to get their second chance.
The turtles were brought from New England in late November after they were found suffering from being “cold-stunned.” Now they are all healthy for release back into the Atlantic Ocean. We will keep you up to date as this progresses over the next 24 hours. Wish our team luck and cheer them on. This is a looooong trip!
