16 Sea Turtles from Massachusetts, part of 23 being released during a joint Pittsburgh Zoo/No Dog Left Behind mission to Cape Canaveral, FL, have landed at the Allegheny County Airport. Teams from No Dog Left Behind and Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium were on-hand to welcome them to Pittsburgh. The turtles were model passengers on the trip. Skipping the In-Flight movie, the turtles did enjoy a First Class meal of fish and shrimp. These 16 have been rehabilitated over the last 3 months by the National Marine Life Center and are ready to go back home, to the Atlantic Ocean. The Sea Turtles were loaded up on the No Dog Left Behind Landplane and transported to the Zoo by Pilots Brad and Linda Childs along with Josianne Romasco of the Zoo. Tonight they will enjoy a peaceful nights sleep at the Zoo and prepare for their trip to Florida scheduled for late Sunday afternoon.
