After 2 days of driving 1,400 miles from Pittsburgh to an overwhelmed Houston, our volunteers were greeted by 16 wagging tails who were waiting for their second chance to be moved from danger to safety. Under pressure, and testing their endurance, our volunteers are exhausted but determined to bring help for 16 animals they have never met. Once Dave Stash and Walter Schwarz arrived they loaded up the precious cargo in our Landplane and headed out once again on the open road to give hope to the hopeless.
The team faces another grueling 12 hours on the road ahead. Dave and Walt are being powered by their love of these special animals. Somewhere along this last leg, they will cross into rare territory, becoming the longest distance mission Landpilots in our history. Dedication, perseverance, and an unabashed love for helping others are the traits that make our teams special. With the Landplane loaded with precious cargo Dave and Walt headed out once again on the open road to give hope to the hopeless.
The last leg to meet Best Friends Animal Society in Atlanta, Georgia will be challenging but crossing the finish line means 16 animals will have a new beginning and the second chance they deserve.
