Since the first rescue flight in 2006 we have always dreamed of having a special waiver from the FAA so that No Dog Left Behind could pay for all of the costs associated with our rescue flights. For all of these years the pilots have had to pay for half of the variable costs associated with the flights, specifically the fuel. That always made these flights difficult on our pilots since they would have to come out of pocket for hundreds of dollars on each flight.
For years we talked about trying to petition the FAA for a Fuel Exemption Waiver. None have ever been given to operations like ours. With the help of McGuireWoods LLP, who took this on Pro Bono, our team has been granted the first waiver for animal rescue flights! This opens the door for No Dog Left Behind to raise money for fuel and offer pilots all over the county the chance to fly for our team FREE OF CHARGE! Its a game changer…
