Proud. It’s the only word that comes to mind watching seven No Dog Left Behind volunteers come together to help in a delicate situation that required the very best of each of them. 3 German Shepherds, rescued from a hoarding case in Ohio, would need the hearts of each of these volunteers to help them on their last leg of a journey from Danger to Safety.

After authorities were called to intervene in a 50 animal hoarding case three German Shepherds needed a safe place to go to recover from the trauma of their ordeal. Our friends from the Clermont Animal CARE Humane Society reached out to see if we could help get these special dogs to a specialized German Shepherd rescue in Central, PA called Char-Wills German Shepherd Rescue, with whom we have worked with in the past. After weather delayed a flight multiple times a team fo 7 Landpilots came together at the last minute to make the complicated journey on land.

Not being in the best of health, we needed these animals to have as stress free as a trip as possible. Breaking the trip up into multiple legs would give these animals a chance midway through the trip to rest. Once again our friends at the the BIG EASY Animal Hospital agreed to let us bring them to Pittsburgh to spend the night under their watchful eyes.

A snow storm during the trip made this even more difficult for our Landpilots but they persevered and made it safely back with our precious cargo ready to unwind for the night. The following morning we set off again with the third team to meet Char-Wills and deliver these animals to the next phase in their recovery.

Two day trip, a ton of on the fly coordination, and wither weather that relentlessly challenged us. This is nothing new for a group of volunteers that goes above and beyond to make it happen. This mission is dedicated to all of the those Landpilots who spend hour on the road to give hope to the hopeless.

We want to thank specifically Landpilots Kate Blakley, Carrie Edmunds, Tim Bouvey, Dan Ford, Craig Edwards, Kim Falvo, and Maddie Thompson. Your devotion, your character, and your huge hearts are the fuel that powers our team.
