Imagine being stuck on a hurricane ravaged island for 2 weeks surviving on rice and water while living in a house with no roof. Animal rescuers Chris and Adam have been helping animals on the small island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands which was completely devastated by Hurricane Maria. Stranded without any means to leave the island they reached out directly to our team for help. No Dog Left Behind, along with the Humane Society of the United States, is planning a rescue flight to help get Adam and Chris, along with as many animals as we can fit in the plane, off the island on Tuesday. The flight is being paid for by a generous donation from a private donor. The plane will leave Allegheny County Airport in Pittsburgh on Monday loaded with veterinary supplies, crates, and supplies to be delivered to the BVI Humane Society.

If all goes according to plan the plane will leave the island on Tuesday October 3rd and arrive back into the United States, first in Fort Lauderdale where Adam and Chris will depart for home, and then to Pittsburgh with these incredible animal survivors from Tortola on board. It’s a monumental mission for our team. To rescue the rescuers while bringing hope and a second chance to animals who have been without shelter for weeks is testament to our commitment both to our fellow rescuers and to the animals that need our help. For Adam and Chris who have been on the ground through Harvey, Irma, and now Maria, it’s a chance to finally go home. Please follow along with us as we embark on this incredible rescue.
