Hurricane Irma created a terrible situation for our furry friends in the Caribbean. Shelters were destroyed and animals were left in dire despair. With a second Hurricane fast approaching the Caribbean animals that had already survived one hurricane needed immediate evacuation. Kent and Sherry Knight of Pet Search jumped into action and helped organize an airlift of 400 animals from St. Thomas, St. Croix, and St. John. These animals came to Island Dog Rescue in Virginia where No Dog Left Behind Landpilots Christina McCool Colantoni and Jim Moran traveled to yesterday to bring 22 of these animals back to Pittsburgh (15 dogs and 7 cats).

The duo departed late yesterday in the No Dog Left Behind Landplane. After spending the night they woke up this morning with one purpose…rescue some of these incredible animals. Later today they will arrive at the Allegheny County Airport where Pet Search will be to take these animals to get their second chance. The teamwork involved with this mission puts us in awe. We are thrilled to be able to help and we can’t wait for these animals to arrive today around 6:45. Great work everyone!
