Sometimes its the smaller parts of the story that shine through and remind us why we do what we do. A few days ago a blind and deaf senior dog made a long journey to meet up with us while we were already on another mission. Petey’s journey started in North Carolina. Landpilots Kim Curtis and Karen Madden were already on a 30 animal rescue mission to Martinsville Henry County SPCA where they met up with 18 dogs and 12 cats. Petey found a spot with the other animals who were in critical need of a second chance. Our team headed off from Martinsville to meet North Shore Animal League America where 30 of these animals were going to find their furever homes. Petey though was staying with us. His furever home was already secured. Petey would make the long journey back to Pittsburgh with our team, the lone dog on the Landplane. Late last night we returned home with new mom Kimberly Wykoff waiting at the No Dog Left Behind office to meet him. Welcome to Pittsburgh Petey! Thanks Kim and Karen for making this trip a reality. Happy endings. Second chances. Hope.
