Team. Its the one word that truly defines us and it’s the impetus for todays rescue of a record 21 animals by air. Teamwork saves lives. No Dog Left Behind Pilot Brad Childs and No Dog Left Behind Landpilot Dave Manko united the AIR and LAND side for a joint air mission to Huntington, WV. Upon arrival the team had to deviate 30 miles away to another airport due to dangerous weather conditions. Once safely on the ground at a new airport they met up with the Johnson County Shelter from KY and the B.A.R.C Boone Animal Rescue Coalition. These 21 animals all had heartwarming stories. Some of these puppies were found at a residence that was trying to give them away as Halloween treats. The larger dogs were found abandoned in the woods and were spooked by humans. One animal was taken in by a shelter after their owner got tired of him and asked the vet to euthanize him. Today all 21 are safe.

Brad and Dave flew back to Pittsburgh, avoiding an airspace restriction due to the Vice Presidents visit, and landed at an alternate airport. Even the Vice President can’t stop No Dog Left Behind! There they met up with Pilot Jack Merritt who took some of these adorable doggies to his shelter at Greenmore Farm Animal Rescue. The other animals were then loaded into the No Dog Left Behind Landplane and transported to South Hills Pet Rescue and Resort, Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, ad The Puppy Connection by No Dog Left Behind Landpilots Michele Sobolewski and Nancy Pitcavage. All paws on deck…multiple teams going to multiple places. This was a complex rescue that a few years ago we could not have done. With so many amazing volunteers, and a support staff that doesn’t take no for an answer, todays mission defines who we are as a Team and how far we have come with your support. Great work everyone…another one for the record book.
