Tragedy struck at the Brandywine SPCA shelter in Delaware late Sunday night when a driver crashed into the side of the building causing a fire. Some of the animals lost their lives and more seriously, the female driver also lost her life. It is a sad situation and our hearts go out to the family of the driver and the entire staff of Brandywine.

We got a call from Brandywine Valley SPCA and the The Humane Society of the United States that 48 cats needed to evacuate the facility and move to Angels of Assisi for immediate adoption. With little time to prepare our Landpilots Tony Larocca and Ralph Harlan took the Landplane on the mission to West Chester, PA to load these 48 passengers for their trip to Roanoke, VA and back.

These types of missions, where we have the unique ability to bridge two shelters during an emergency, is exactly why No Dog Left Behind exists. The teamwork and sense of camaraderie amongst shelters shows the best of humanity. We are honored to play a No Dog Left Behind in teaming up with these incredible individuals. Our team is gearing up for another trip on Friday to help more of these animals. Stay tuned for details.
