33 dogs trapped by a huge snowstorm in the south were given a second chance thanks to a joint PAART Air and Land Rescue mission. PAART Pilots Pete Lehmann and Jonathan Plesset, along with PAART Landpilots Carolyn Jochymek and Emily Lewkowicz, took part in a unique mission that was only made possible by our ability to cover the air and the land.
33 dogs who were gathered by Martinsville Henry County SPCA from overcrowded shelters in the south were supposed to depart for a new beginning today with our PAART Land Team. Unfortunately a huge snowstorm blanketed Southern Virginia with almost two feet of snow. With the roads closed the team took the sky to send the PAART Air Team down to go where no car could. All 33 were loaded up the PAART Plane and flown north to meet the Land Team in Johnstown, PA where the teams met up and exchanged their precious cargo.
Carolyn and Emily then headed north to our good friends at North Shore Animal League America where all 33 dogs will be loved, cared for, and then adopted into their furever homes within days. Great example of teamwork by everyone involved. Together we can work towards our goal of No Dog Left Behind.
